Thirty-six organisations have been shortlisted for the 2019 North West Coast Research and Innovation Awards.
The winners will be announced during an event at The Hilton, Liverpool, on 7 March.
The North West Coast Research and Innovation Awards celebrate the successes of the excellent work being undertaken in healthcare across the North West Coast. They demonstrate the impact of clinical research and innovation efforts upon patient and social care.
The Awards are a collaboration between the Innovation Agency; NIHR Clinical Research Network: North West Coast (CRN NWC) and NIHR Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care North West Coast (CLAHRC NWC).
The aim of the awards is to demonstrate how clinical research and innovation efforts have had an impact on patient care and to showcase new ideas.
Innovation Agency Chief Executive Dr Liz Mear said: "We're proud to give our continuing support to these awards, recognising and celebrating excellence in life sciences research and innovation across our region, a region increasingly being recognised as a leader in this field.
“Outstanding clinical research and cutting-edge innovations continually drive up the quality of patient care across the health system, and these awards give us an opportunity to showcase new ideas and techniques that can be applied to other organisations."
CRN NWC Chief Operating Officer Jacqui Pirmohamed said: "The Clinical Research Network, North West Coast would like to thank all those who entered the North West Coast Research and Innovation Awards. We have received a record number of entries in 2019 representing our most competitive year since the awards began and it’s reflective of our ambitious research teams now setting new gold standards. Congratulations to all those who were shortlisted and we look forward to celebrating everyone's significant achievements on the night."
Professor Mark Gabbay, Director CLAHRC NWC, said: “These awards have showcased the benefits of working together. By having members of the public, universities, industry, NHS partners and others in a knowledge sharing environment, we can deliver ground-breaking research that improves the health and wellbeing of the population of the North West Coast.
“I am particularly pleased to see some of the researchers of the future recognised on the shortlist, and their excellent projects in tackling health inequalities in some of our North West communities. To also have public advisers at the awards who have been engaging on our research projects and ensuring they are both practical and applied in nature, has been great for all involved.”
